I just had to share this photo of me (on the left again, the tiger) and my sisters at our very first gig! Mom thought we could really help drum up business by showing off what she could do. Mark came back to help with this one, and they stayed REALLY busy. I bet it was because of us!! ![]()

July 22nd, 2006, 11:07 pm by AgnesThis was SO cool! In April, Mom got to take a class with Mark Reid! She had a total blast and learned so many awesome things. There were two other ladies besides mom, so several of us sisters got painted a lot. This was the Butterfly Lesson (I’m on the left again).

The Pleiades
July 22nd, 2006, 10:51 pm by AgnesI will admit I’ve been enjoying my new life here, but after a while I started feeling a bit guilty for leaving all the other “uglies” behind. So, I had a talk with mom, she went back to the salon and brought back SIX of my sisters! Here’s a family reunion shot (that’s me on the left).

It wasn’t quite what I was expecting, let me tell you. I was under the impression when I left the beauty school that I was to have a new life as a makeup model. I was only half right. This “makeup” is definitely NOTHING like what I was used to! But this might just turn out to be fun after all.
Welcome!

Hello. Name’s Agnes.
I’m really not sure where I went wrong. Things started out pretty well, I guess, getting fussed over, having my hair done up all pretty, sometimes even with makeup and all.
I dunno, maybe I got a little too testy with my student when she pulled my hair, maybe it was something else, but things started going downhill when the scissors came out. Oh, it didn’t all come off at once, but before I knew it, my beautiful, long auburn hair was almost gone. I hated it of course, and perhaps lashed out, I don’t remember. I found myself in “the back room” sitting on a shelf with the other “uglies”. Once in a while the door would open and I would hope for a moment, but usually it was just one of the girls in white coming back to get a perm or toss some towels in the hamper. Occasionally someone would come in and bring one of us down off the shelf. Sometimes the ugly would come back, but most often we never saw her again. There were rumors, and we had arguments over “where they go when they don’t come back,” but none of us ever knew for sure.
Then one day, one of the purple ladies came in looking straight at us. How odd, it was usually the girls in white who would look us over with narrowed eyes and finally settle on “the least ugly”. I didn’t have much hope at this point because I had almost no hair left at all, my student’s name was still visible across the front of my neck, and I had makeup and hair color stains on my face and down the back of my neck. I was, by popular vote, “The Most Ugly.”
To my utter surprise, the purple lady looked right at me, picked me up and took me out the door. I panicked for a moment, certain she was taking me to the awful place we’d talked about. “The place you don’t come back from!”
The purple lady took me out into the bright room again and I could hardly see. She walked up to a lady who had obviously just had a new perm and tapped her on the shoulder. The new lady turned around and I cringed, awaiting the look of disgust that was coming. Instead, the new lady’s eyes lit up and she took me like I was a prize! I remember her exact words…
“She’s perfect! And she’s so cute like this!”
I almost cried, but that would never do in public. I soon learned that my lady’s name is Christina, and that I was indeed exactly what she was looking for. I vowed never to complain again. My lady rescued me from certain doom!

I have a much more interesting life now than in the closet days. I am able to watch over Christina and her family. She sometimes takes me into the office or sets me on the dining table and paints my face. It’s quite different than the makeup I got while in beauty school, and I don’t always care for the results much, but my lady is very careful to wash it all off right away (after taking a few photos, of course.) Have to keep my skin beautiful for the next time!
Well, that’s my story. I hope you’ve enjoyed reading it, and I hope you will come back often to see what my lady and I have come up with next!
